Today JSC “RZD” is reckoned among three biggest transport companies all over the world with 85500 km of exploitative track in Russia – the second place in the world, and a length of electrified lines takes the first place. JSC “RZD” signed a general agreement with 75 regions of Russian Federation on cooperation in railway transport domain. JSC “RZD” carries about 1.5 billion tones of freight annually that composes 40% of the total of Russia’s freight traffic (more than 80% of cargo turn-over without pipelines).
For 4 years of company's existence principal quantitative and qualitative good performance had been considerably improved, it has been achieved rating of investment attractiveness, it has managed to bring into being and to complete a set of grand projects. Such projects as renaissance of Grozniy Department of North-Caucasian railway, bringing into service of train ferry through the Kerch Strait to Ukraine in Caucasus Port, installation of a train ferry “Caucasus Port” - port Poti” and many others.
Projects on railway infrastructure development in North Caucasian railway are successfully brought into being, approaches to Southern Russian ports have been strengthened. Construction of the second and third ways on the separate sectors of railroad is going on according to concepts of speeding-up. Reconstruction of length Tuapse -Adler is going to be completed with success.
In the course of domain reforming it succeeded to keep the best traditions, qualified able-bodied personnel. All these factors gave a possibility to bring activity of railways of Russia up to the highest qualitative level, to solve the tasks and to let JSC “RZD” become one of the biggest corporations in the world railway community. The company also has managed to reserve precious experience of 170 year history of Russian railway domain.
JSC “Russian Railways” is not only the largest dynamically developed commercial company, but also it bears a social responsibility. “Lokomotiv – School league” is one of social projects supported by JSC “RZD”.
