BC «Lokomotiv-Kuban» has played the second control match at the Cyprus session. Today our team met with the favourite of the local championship — «Apoel».
Nicosia club occupies the second place in the National Championship and it is only one win behind the leader AEL. Besides the team is going on to struggle for quarterfinal achievement in Eurochallenge. On the 9-th of March Cypriots will have a decisive match of Top-16 against «Buducnost» well-known to Krasnodar fans. The match with «Lokomotiv» has become the last check for «Apoel», that’s why the hosts threw the best powers including the team leader Lewis Hopkins into the battle.
After an equal first quarter in which «railwaymen» occurred a little bit better Cypriots were hyperactive in the second period. They let our team make almost nothing in an attack and acted forcefully and efficiently in an offence and won 10 minute space with advantage of 18 points (25:7).
«Lokomotiv» brought all available basketballers into play as it was in the match against «Apollon». Gerald Green was the best again — 15 points. Viktor Dubovitskiy (12) and Maxim Krivosheev (8) assisted him a lot.
Krasnodarians managed to turn the unsuccessful course of the game in the last quarter gathering all the efforts. The final period «Lokomotiv» won 28:11 and gained a victory in the exciting end with the score 62:58 (13:10,7:25,14:12,28:11).
On the 7-th of March our team has a rest and on the 8-th they will meet with «Apollon» again. The «railwaymen» are completing their session on March 9 and leaving for Krasnodar.
