As a player, Janko played for the Serbian U16 national team, Crvena Zvezda, and FMP Belgrad.
He became a coach at the invitation of Jovan Popović, who was then working at BC Runa.
In his second year at Lokomotiv Kuban, Pejčić was appointed first assistant coach.
