Interview

Patrick Miller: “It’s my job in the team to get everybody involved”

At one of the last training sessions before leaving for Türkiye for the Gloria Cup, the Loko guard shared his vision of how preparations for the season are going and how the player himself understands his role in the team.
How does the preparation for the season go?
You know, it's a new coaching staff, new returning players, so we got a new system. Right now, it's an adjustment period for all of us. Just getting a feel for each other, getting a new set, seeing and learning as quickly as we can. But I think mostly it's just about jelling together, seeing what system is going to be best for us as a team.
How do newcomers adapt in the team?
Good. I know some of the players already, the Americans. And young guys show that they want to learn. The main thing is just getting everybody on the same level and just keep building. And I think everybody's working hard. I think our group right now is putting in a lot of work.
Are you excited to play the first preseason game in Türkiye?
Yeah, very excited. When it's preseason, you want to get into, you know, the season shape. I think it's going to be good for us to actually go against other players. So I'm looking forward to that. That's going to be fun and just, you know, get prepared for the season.
Are you ready to be one of the key players of Loko?
Oh, yeah, I've been a leader everywhere I've been. I feel like I was born a leader and I was trying to show that a little bit, even though I came late last season. But this year, I'm here from the beginning. I feel like, yeah, I'm the leader of the team other than Uzi [Dmitry Uzinsky, Loko captain]. So it's my job, you know, to get everybody involved, to get everybody with confidence. That's me. I'm the energy guy. I'm not always the positive guy. So that's my job for the team.
