Interview

Karvel Anderson: “In sport you must never underestimate your opponent”

The Loko guard spoke of the mood inside the team and shared his expectations on the upcoming game.
Do you feel 100% back into laying rhythm?
My finger is fine and I feel great. Step by step, I am getting back to my ideal self. Getting back into the rhythm is not so easy, because I missed a lot in two months. But I am very happy to be back with the team.
Your 3-pointers at the end of Samara game almost made it into overtime. What was not enough to win?
I tried to help the team, but I must've played much better. Sometimes such hard defeats are good for you: they help you awaken the fire inside you to move forward with new energy. Today the coaching staff held a meeting, we had a good talk and got into a positive mood.
What was the main reason of that defeat?
Basketball is a sport. And in sport you must never underestimate your opponent, no matter who you play against. When we face CSKA, Zenit and UNICS, we show high level. But sometimes things like in Samara happen. I hope that defeat – as well as the loss against PARMA – will be a lesson for us that we need to play every game as if it's the final.
What can you say about the next opponent?
Uralmash is a very good team. Despite a lot of injuries, their roster is still very strong. At home, they play with maximum energy and motivation, and we must respond in kind. I think tomorrow will be a real battle, which will be very interesting to watch.
