Uralmash vs Loko: how will they look after the pause?

On March 1 at 3 PM MSK, Lokomotiv Kuban will play their first game after an almost three-week break in the championship – in Yekaterinburg against the fifth team in the league, Uralmash.

Both previous games between the opponents this season ended with Lokomotiv winning, but both times it was hard.

On October 16 in Krasnodar the score was 91:80, Patrick Miller scored 17 points For Loko, Andrey Martyuk added 14, BJ Johnson – 13. For Uralmash, Jeremiah Martin and Tyrell Nelson each made 19 points, Stanley Whittaker came with another 15.

On December 8 in Yekaterinburg, a minute and a half before the siren, Lokomotiv’s advantage in the score was only one point, but a strong finish allowed them to win 90:83. Our team’s main scorers once again were Johnson (21 points) and Miller (19), Anton Kvitkovskikh also played well (14). Martin brought 19 points to Uralmash, the second in scoring was Johnny O’Bryant (16).

However, a good half of the above-mentioned players will not take part in today’s game. Uralmash withdrew Whittaker and O’Bryant – this player was taken as a temporary replacement for Octavius Ellis, who was recovering from an injury at the beginning of the season. Ellis returned, got another injury, but according to our information, he is training with the rest of the team – as is Martin, who was also out for some time.

Three players at once transferred to the Yekaterinburg team from Samara this winter: point guard Anton Kardanakhishvili, shooting guard Ivan Pynko and center Ilya Popov.

For Loko, Johnson and Karvel Anderson are absent due to injuries – and this is far from the only change in the roster.

Andrey Vedishchev, the head coach for Lokomotiv Kuban PBC

We left Andrei Martyuk at home so that he would not force his return and would be 100% ready for the next home games. On the other hand, we have added Tajhere McCall, who has made a very good impression during his first training sessions with us. He is an experienced professional, and I believe that he will make us stronger. We want to start the spring part of the championship with a victory. To beat Uralmash, we need to go out with the right attitude, play disciplined and follow our plan.

Dmitry Uzinsky, the captain of Lokomotiv Kuban PBC

During the break, we rebooted a little. We are very serious about the game and intend to show our best. We had enough time to prepare, and the newcomer has fit in well with the team. The main task is to impose our basketball on the opponent, strictly follow the plan and act aggressively in defense.

The game will be broadcasted live on the Krasnodar and Start Triumph TV channels, as well as on the VTB United League website, and on the main page of our Internet resource.

Go, Loko! Let’s start the spring with a victory!
