The final round of the tournament was held from March 2 to 10 in the Lokomotiv Kuban Youth training center.
In the preliminary group, our guys finished second, defeating Belgorod Region (87:79), Penza Region (86:62), and losing to Moscow-1 (65:101).
In the 1/8 finals, Lokomotiv-2009 beat Moscow Region-1 with a score of 76:64, in the 1/4 finals – Perm Region-1 – 62:52, in the semi-finals – Perm Region-2, 78:72.
The final turned out to be dramatic and unpredictable. In it, the Krasnodar team met with St. Petersburg-1, which sensationally won its semi-final against Moscow-1 the day before. Loko-2009 started confidently, during the 2nd quarter they were leading by 13 points, but the Petersburgers scored three 3-pointers in a row at the decisive moment of the match. The result was a victory for the team from the banks of the Neva, 86:79.
The organizers included Nikolai Bessonov in the symbolic five of the final round, and Roman Vorsulev was awarded the title of the best player of the final.
“I have nothing to reproach the team for, everyone fought as best they could,” says the head coach of “Loko-2009” Evgeny Safonov. “We need to correct the mistakes and the next gold will definitely come”.
