Interview

Tahjere McCall: “Hopefully, this loss will be a motivation for us”

The Lokomotiv Kuban guard answered journalists’ questions after losing to Uralmash (91:95).
What happened to Loko in the 4th quarter?
I think we just took our foot off the gas a little bit. Relaxed, and you can't do that against a good team, especially getting there to the playoffs. This is where you learn how to win, especially in close games like this. But we'll learn from it. When you want to win in front of your fans, the opponent resists, and when the score is so small, things happen.
The result didn't really matter in this game, but how hard is this loss?
The result does hurt, especially the way we lost and feeling like we could have won. But hopefully we will use it the right way – as a motivation to what we can accomplish and what we need to do to be better, to complete our goal in the playoffs. Every loss has a lesson if you use it for what it's worth, so hopefully we can learn that lesson and not let it happen again.
What is the most important thing to remember during the play-offs?
You kind of know all the teams, what they're running, who's trying to score and where they're trying to score, how they're trying to play. Usually it comes down to who can execute the best at the end of the game. That's why I said if we learn from how we finish this game and listen to the coaches and what they game plan for us. The playoffs always come down to execution and players making plays. So that's what you get paid for, is to make plays when it's time to win. So hopefully I know our players and I know the people on our team. I think we have a good position, we're in a good position to do that. But it's a different game for sure, it just means more, this is what you work your whole season for. So every shot has a little more impact, every turnover has a little bit more impact.
