Makar Konovalov was born on December 6, 2000 in Irkutsk. He started his career in CSKA, where he became the winner of the youth championship (DYuBL) in the 2016/17 season. The next few years, he played for CSKA-Junior in the VTB United Youth League, with which he won the tournament in the 2017/18 season, and a year later won silver. In the 2020/21 season, he became the champion of the Superliga-1 as part of Samara BC.
In the summer of 2022, Konovalov joined MBA (later renamed MBA-MAI), with which he became a two-time bronze medalist of the Russian Cup (seasons 2022/23, 2024/25).
In the previous season, the guard took part in 42 games, including 41 in the starting five. His stats were 10.0 points, 5.1 assists, 1.7 rebounds, 0.7 steals and 0.4 blocks in 25 minutes.
Also last season, Konovalov was in the Top 5 best assistants of the league and was invited to the All-Star Game of the VTB United League.
