The center of Lokomotiv Kuban shared his impressions of the first part of the MELBET training camp and plans for the season.
- What are your impressions of the first weeks in Loko?
- I love it here. The city is nice. I love warm weather. I'm from Texas. So being in warm weather, going from cold weather to finally being in some warm weather, that's nice for me too. Love the teammates, love the coach, love the atmosphere. Everybody is just full of energy. Everybody has the mindset of winning. And I just think that it's going to be a great year so far.
- Did you have a conversation with the head coach?
- I mean, we talked. I kind of asked him what he wanted my role to be for the team and what he's looking for me to do. And he just basically said, be myself, do what I've been doing. I've been playing in the VTB for three years, going on four now. So he kind of noticed me, knew my game, knew what I can bring to the table. So just be myself and I do nothing extra.
- Jeremiah Martin moved to your native Houston this summer…
- Yes, yes, yes. So he moved to Houston this past summer and we connected. And I let him know about some places. We got to work out together a little bit. So it was good. We connected. And then before I signed to Loko first and before he came to Loko, he told me about it. And I was trying to get him and recruit him over here. So I'm glad that we're on the same team now.
- What do you think of Hunter's arrival?
- Man, I think Hunter, playing against Hunter for three years… You know, he's a great asset. He's a high-energy guy, just like myself, rebound, moves around, and is very mobile. So I think for us to be on the same team now is a very, very good thing. And I think we're going to have a lot of success.
- What was your opinion on Loko when you were playing for other teams?
- Loko has always been a nice place. I always loved the gym. Every time I came to Krasnodar, I always liked playing here. I know that it's a high-level club that's always used to winning and things like that. So to be a part of it now, to be on the top team, it means everything to me. Now I just want to win the championship.
- Maybe you have some words for our fans?
- Fans, I just want to say thank you for welcoming me here. I can't wait to play in front of you guys, give you a lot of electric highlights and bring a lot of energy to the team, to the organization. And like I said, hopefully win the championship.
