The head coach of Lokomotiv Kuban spoke on the result of the game against BETCITY PARMA (90:77).
- What can you say about how thew game went on?
- In a second game in a row, we maintained our concentration for a long time. Today, we relaxed a bit in the 4th quarter, perhaps because our lead was quite comfortable. Apart from that stretch, I can say "bravo" to the team: we played very well as a team, helped each other out, and our communication was excellent—that's what made the difference in the final stretch.
- How did you manage to stop BETCITY PARMA's run in the 4th quarter?
- Timeouts, substitutions, some adjustments... Such runs happen in basketball. Yesterday in the Euroleague, Partizan led by 20 points in the 4th quarter, but Monaco made a 22:0 run. For sure, no one wants to fall so badly, but that's basketball. So we called timeouts, made substitutions—nothing special.
- Vsevolod Ishchenko made a double-double today – how unexpected or perhaps expected was that for you?
- You never know before a game how a player will perform. Seva is a young player we've been working with a lot, including off the court. His last game wasn't very successful. I hope he learned from it, and I praised him after the game today—not for his points, but for the fact that he fought so well, and his 10 rebounds are proof of that.
- What are the chances of seeing Kirill Yelatontsev in the Lokomotiv lineup?
- It's hard to say. As I know, he refused to play for us. Although I spoke to him twice, told him he had a choice, and he answered me he wanted to play for us. But apparently, he had something else in mind. In my opinion, this isn't quite proper behavior. Therefore, I don't think we'll likely see him in the Lokomotiv lineup in the next games.
- Lokomotiv-Kuban will play another game in two days. Is it correct to say that the main goal will once again be to recover properly?
- Yes. With this schedule, the team's physical fitness is crucial. Our leaders play for about 30 minutes, so in addition to working on tactics, we must get the guys ready for the game in as good physical shape as possible.
