Tomislav Tomović: “I’m proud of the players and their character”

The head coach of Lokomotiv Kuban commented on the away victory over MBA-MAI (107:82).
Why is your suit wet?
Partly from the excitement of the game, but mostly from the way I was congratulated in the locker room on my first win. You know, there's a tradition of dousing the coach with water after the first win with a new team. I'm happy we won because I saw how hard the team worked all the days before. A lot needs to change in a short time, developing new interactions and combinations. I'm proud of the players and their character. We had some trouble with rebounds in the first half, but the guys responded well, and the result confirms it. I believe in our players and want them to believe in themselves and each other, too. Self-confidence is very important, especially when there are changes in the team.
Have you already established good chemistry with the team?
No, it's way too early to say that; I've only been on the team for 7 days. We're actively trying to build relationships, the players are getting used to my demands, and I'm learning their strengths. But there's still a lot, lot of room for improvement.
Why didn't Anton Kvitkovskikh play?
He felt unwell in the morning, and after consulting with the medical staff, we decided to keep him at the hotel.
Who you may call the leaders of current Lokomotiv?
Listen, I don't want to put anyone ahead of everyone else. My vision is that our strength lies in our team. And we should be a team, not a bunch of individuals.
