Robert “BJ” Johnson Jr. is a graduate of LaSalle College. He was selected to the Atlantic 10 Division II Second Team during the 2017-18 NCAA Championship.
In his first NBA game (for the Atlanta Hawks against the Chicago Bulls in March 2019), he scored 11 points, tying the rookie record for 100% scoring (4-of-4). He has played in 22 NBA games to date (including 1 playoff game).
He was selected to the All-G League Second Team following the 2019-20 season.
He has played for the United States national team twice, in November 2021, during the World Cup qualifiers against Cuba (95:90) and Mexico (88:97). Johnson scored 16 and 15 points in those games, respectively.
While playing for PARMA, he was named the VTB United League’s MVP of the Month (January 2024) and played in the 2024 All-Star Game.
In June 2024, he signed a contract with Lokomotiv Kuban. Soon, he was included in the Team of the 2024 VTB United League Supercup. His best individual performance with Lokomotiv is 29 points against Samara on December 5, 2024.
