Besides several VTB United League and Superliga clubs, Popov played half a season for the Lions de Genève, where he won silver in the Swiss Basketball League.
In the 2024/25 season, he helped Uralmash win its first-ever Russian Cup, debuted in the VTB United League All-Star Game, and became the first Russian player in VTB United League history to score 10+ shots without a single miss (in a game against Lokomotiv).
In the summer of 2025, Popov signed a contract with Lokomotiv Kuban until the end of the 2026/27 season.
