Vincent Shamar Hunter spent his college years playing in the NCAA for the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). He began his professional career with the Reno Bighorns of the NBA Development League, and in February 2016, the player signed with Panathinaikos, with whom he reached the EuroLeague quarterfinals, and won the Greek Cup.
Before the start of the 2016/17 campaign, Hunter signed with the Memphis Grizzlies and played 4 games for the club in the NBA preseason camp. In November 2016, he joined Avtodor, and thanks to a successful season in Saratov, he received a new offer from Grizzlies, for whom he played another 4 games.
In January 2018, he signed a contract with AEK Athens, where he won the FIBA Champions League, the Greek Cup and the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. Two seasons with Virtus followed, bringing the player gold in the Italian Championship and the EuroCup Top 16 MVP title.
In the 2022/23 season, he played for UNICS Kazan, where he won the VTB United League title, after which he transferred to Zenit. With the St. Petersburg team, he won the VTB United League Supercup and Russian Cup, played in the VTB United League All-Star Game, and was named the league’s DPOY.
In the summer of 2025, Hunter signed a 1+1 contract with Lokomotiv Kuban.
