The Take
Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar and Gran Canaria have been woven into the fabric of the 7DAYS EuroCup as two of the most-accomplished franchises in the history of the competition, but only one of them will reach the semifinals this season. Both teams have faced each other four times in the history of the EuroCup, and share a 2-2 record to date.
These two teams have been among the most productive in the EuroCup this season; Gran Canaria is second in performance index rating at 103.7 per game and Lokomotiv is third at 97.4. Gran Canaria leads the EuroCup in scoring with 89.5 point per game, which is the 10th best average in EuroCup history, and the third-best among teams with at least 16 games played.
Loko remains the only undefeated team this season (16-0), while Granca has reached the elimination rounds with a 9-7 mark.
Gran Canaria will have to make do without the services of top gun Marcus Eriksson (15.4 ppg.), who suffered a wrist injury while playing for the Sweden national team last week.
With Eriksson missing, DJ Seeley (11.4 ppg.) becomes a go-to guy for the guests together with center Ondrej Balvin (10.7 ppg. and 7.4 rpg.) and point guard Gal Mekel (9.5 ppg., 5.1 apg.).
Joe Ragland leads Loko (12.3 ppg., 4.7 apg.) alongside Ryan Broekhoff (12.3 ppg.) and Trevor Lacey (10.1 ppg.).
