The voting of the award with the participation of the forward of "Loco" Andrey Martyuk became a record for the entire time of its holding. More than 37,000 votes were cast for all the nominees.

The online voting of the Annual Prize “Athlete of Kuban 2022” started on December 9. The top ten athletes representing the Krasnodar Territory were first determined by journalists, and then the only winner of the award was chosen by fans. The award is traditionally organized by the Krasnodar Regional Branch of the Federation of Sports Journalists of Russia.

In the final, the leaders of the semifinals – the champion of Russia, the winner of the European Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship Alexander Golovin and the basketball player of Lokomotiv-Kuban, the best young player of the VTB United League Andrey Martyuk - met. According to a long-standing tradition, in order to preserve the intrigue, we announce the name of the prize winner directly at the award ceremony. So it will be this time. It is also important to note that the prize "Athlete of Kuban 2022" has become a record for the entire time of its holding. In total, more than 37,000 votes were cast for all the nominees. The year 2022 has given us new victories and new champions. Each of the 10 nominees is an undoubted sports hero of Kuban. And I want to remind you that the athletes nominated by journalists are the best athletes of the Krasnodar Territory, and the fans chose the main one from the best.

To become a nominee of the award for me was an honor in itself. And to reach the final, even in competition with such talented and successful athletes, is a very great success.
