Loko students are the winners of the Kuban Universiade

For the first time since 2015, Krasnodar hosted student regional basketball competitions.

Egor Sychkov and the players of the youth teams Vladimir Zabolotnev and Kirill Korobko became the winners of the Universiade of the Krasnodar Territory in basketball. The competitions were held on the basis of the Kuban State Technological University.

Medals in basketball within the Universiade were played for the first time in 7 years. 5 teams took part in the girls’ competitions. In the boys’ standings – 8. In both tournaments, the winners were the teams of the Kuban State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism.

As part of the youth team, gold medals were won by representatives of the Locomotive-Kuban PBK. In the final, they beat the students of the Kuban State Agrarian University, whose colors were defended by those who had recently represented the club’s reserve system: Nikita Gebertaev, Maxim Knyazev and Alexander Goncharenko.

I am glad that I managed to help the University become a basketball champion. Before this competition was not held for many years, and I'm in my last year, and I won't be able to play for my university anymore. This gold medal is special for me – I have not participated in student tournaments before. We played for fun, everyone in our team is, as they say, "on the same wavelength" – all the guys are either from a parallel, or a course younger. After the morning matches of the Universiade, I had to rush to Loko training, but it didn't bother me at all – it was great to plunge into this atmosphere. In the final we played against our former partners – Nikita Gebertaev, Maxim Knyazev and Sasha Goncharenko, who have finished with professional sports, but keep themselves in great shape. I was glad to meet them. "Zaruba" turned out to be notable, but we won!
