PARMA vs. Lokomotiv Kuban. The VTB United League. Preview

On November 18th, Lokomotiv Kuban plays against PARMA on the road. The Perm team has already surprised the VTB League and made all clubs see it from a different perspective. Lokomotiv Kuban is fighting for Top-3 of the championship and intends to get another win in Perm.

The Take

Last week, PARMA frightened the whole VTB United League. The Perm team scored 60 points against CSKA in Moscow – in the first half only! Nobody had ever done that in the League’s history. However, PARMA didn’t bear until the end of the game and was defeated. But who can say that the team is an outsider now? Even though it takes the last place in the standings.

Lokomotiv is following its way, hammering small teams and squaring off with teams of its own level. Krasnodar has won 3 of 4 games and shares the third place in the standings with Zenit and Khimki.

The upcoming game sets a new intrigue in the nearest future – Loko plays against Perm in the quarterfinal of the Cup of Russia.

Chris Babb missed a couple of games in the VTB United League. However, he is still the top scorer of the team (13). Mardy Collins confidently collects rebounds (4.5). Dima Khvostov is the top assistant (3.8) and top stealer (1.6).

As for PARMA, Frank Gaines is the fifth top scorer of the VTB League – 16. Yanick Moreira takes the third place among top rebounders of the championship – 7.5. And Codi Miller-McIntyre is the top assister of the team – 7.5.

Прямая речь

Sasa Obradovic, Head Coach of PBC Lokomotiv Kuban:

- After CSKA game when they were leading and playing good with contributing from all players, we should never repeat the mistake of CSKA and enter to the game soft and give their young but very talented players confidence to play the game to the end with big productivity. Conditions in Perm are never easy with cold gym and big temperature difference from where we come from , we can’t allowed ourselves a bad day and we should get over all outside factors and play over our 100% to win the game.

Ivan Nelyubov, Center of PBC Lokomotiv Kuban:

- PARMA is not an easy opponent. And their last game against CSKA proved it. They kept the Moscow team on tenterhooks 40 minutes. We should show aggressive basketball from the very beginning both offensively and defensively. And we must not relax. The game takes place on November 18th at 3:30 p.m. Moscow time.
