The badge of the honorary state title was presented to Vedishchev by Serafim Timchenko, the regional minister of sports.
Andrey Vedishchev heads Lokomotiv Kuban since 2003. Under his leadership, Loko won two silvers and a bronze in the VTB United League, the EuroCup, bronze in the Euroleague, and became the winner of the Russian Cup. In 2022, the club president was included in the VTB United League Hall of Fame.
Today, the system for training the reserve of the main regional team includes seven teams in age groups from 16 to 22 years old, successfully performing in national championships, and youth team players regularly replenish the roster of the main Loko. Representatives of the Kuban reserve team regularly receive invitations to the Russian national teams for the ages U16, U18 and U20.
On the initiative of Andrey Vedishchev, a Youth Training Center was built in Krasnodar, which has become one of the largest modern facilities for training young basketball players in Russia and Europe. Under his leadership, the Lokobasket School League championship has been successfully implemented for 17 years, involving more than 300,000 students from secondary schools throughout the country.
The honorary title “Honored Worker of Physical Culture of the Russian Federation” is awarded by decree of the President of the Russian Federation.
