Interview

Aleksandr Gudumak: “The coaching staff prepared us well”

The forward's debut at Lokomotiv was successful: Aleksandr scored 10 points, and the team won against Zenit with an impressive score of 117:98.
What can you say about the game?
The coaching staff prepared us well, we knew how to neutralize the opponent's strengths. Throughout the game, we tried to play the kind of basketball that the coaches wanted from us, and in the end it gave a result – both in defense and in attack.
How did it feel on the court what happened in the final quarter?
We got a good tempo in the 2nd quarter and tried to keep that energy. During the big break we talked about continuing in the same way. We managed to carry that momentum to the 3rd quarter, and we ran away by over 20 points. Then we slowed down a bit, but we didn't stop playing and were able to get an important victory.
Do the coaches at Loko demand from you something different comparing to Samara?
I don't see any big differences. I dare to assume that I was invited to Lokomotiv to show the same basketball as in Samara. Aggression in defense, conversation on the court – I haven't done anything new yet.
How is your adaptation to the new team going?
I didn't know anyone at Lokomotiv personally before, except for Dima Uzinsky, and from the outside it seemed to me that the young guys here were bold and impudent. But from the first second in the locker room they greeted me very well, everyone was ready to help me adapt as fast as possible.
