Royce Hamm: “Everybody followed the plan”

The Lokomotiv Kuban center was one of the main heroes of the victorious game against Karşıyaka (85:64) – Hamm (13+9) was one rebound short of a double-double.
How was the game?
I think we did well. I think we followed the coach's plans that he gave to us in the film. We played together as a team, shared the ball, minimized our turnovers and things like that, and we got the good result that we wanted.
What helped Loko make a strong start?
I think everybody was just locked in. Like I said, we knew the defense that coach wanted us in. Everybody followed the plan on offense. We executed the ball well, turning the ball over with minimum times, and just did what we could and knew what we came to do. We want to win the tournament. So I think everybody was locked in on that and played good.
How hard was it to keep the margin?
I think in the second quarter we fell short a little bit. They started to come back a little bit, but I think we locked back in defensively, continued to share the ball offensively, and everybody played well. So I think that was good.
What do you think was the most important moment of the game?
Our third quarter. I think coming out at halftime, we really rebounded the ball well. In the first half they got a couple easy offensive rebounds on us, and that kind of set us back a little bit. Coach emphasised that at halftime, so we came out, rebounded the ball well, only gave them one shot, and then really got out and ran in transition, and that helped us win the game.
Do you feel the improvement of Loko’ team game?
Yes, I feel like everybody's getting on the same page. Coaches pouring into us, letting us know the information that we need to know, especially getting close to the season. So I feel like we're just going to continue to improve, continue to get better.
