The Lokomotiv Kuban center shared his thoughts on the game with Zenit (81:72) and talked about how the team would prepare for Samara.
- Are you satisfied with this win?
- I’m gonna say “satisfied” when we finish the season with a good result. But it was a good win for us. it pushed us closer to our goals, so, yeah, it’s good.
- Are you okay with such a level of contact?
- I wouldn’t say that we haven’t seen something like this before. Good teams always bring a lot of pressure. We adjusted to that and kept control throughout the whole game.
- Can you say it was the best defensive game for Loko this season?
- From a top teams, yes, I think it was one of our best games in defense. Everybody was locked in and knew what to do. When we play like this it is very hard to beat us.
- What exactly helped prevent Zenit from scoring points for almost the entire 4th quarter?
- I think it was our attention to detail. We tried to keep the opposing players who were good at it from shooting, and to encourage those who weren't. We did a smart strategic job of keeping the ball away from their leaders.
- Have you heard Loko's fans?
- Of course! I always try to pay attention to our fans who come to away games. This is very important to us, and I have great respect for these people.
- The next game is against Samara. Will it be difficult to switch over from Zenit?
- We're professionals, we must do this. I think each of us wants to win, no matter the opponent. Of course, when you beat Zenit, you feel like you've accomplished something big. Now we need to use this mentality effectively against Samara, play just as tightly on defense, and keep becoming better as a team.
