Tomislav Tomović: “You can’t always rely on making up 20 points”

The head coach of Lokomotiv Kuban PBC commented on the victory over Yenisei (90:83).
How can you describe what happened in the game?
In the 1st half, our thoughts were somewhere else. The last game of the regular season, no tournament goals—none of that can be an excuse. So, during the big break, I told the team that we must give it our all for the people who came to see us, for the club's emblem, and to show that the players have pride and are worthy of their place on the team. I hate losing and tried to bring the team in the same mood. Today, we managed to turn the game around, and I'm proud of the team's character. But you can't always rely on making up 20 points; you have to get involved from the start. However, I'm confident that our team has everything to play well from the very beginning, and we'll see that in the playoffs.
What will the team work on in the next days?
Now is not the time to make major changes. There are certain details we'll be adjusting and working to ensure the players execute the game plan. But the most important thing is to motivate the team to fight and engage. Every game consists of many individual moments, and regardless of the opponent's level, the difference lies in how hard you play in each of these moments. So we'll be working hard on our mental readiness for the playoffs.
Daniil Kasko is back from loan. What will his role in the team be?
He'll be training individually on Thursday, and then we'll integrate him into the team's training program. Of course, at this stage of the season, it's hard to quickly get into the team; he'll need time. But in my opinion, Daniil excels at energy, desire, and hustle. I'm not ready to give any guarantees, but if he performs well in training, we'll probably see him on the court in the playoffs.
