Anton Kvitkovskikh: “We won, but that’s only one game”

The Lokomotiv Kuban forward shared his impressions of the first playoff game against BETCITY PARMA (93:80).
Congrats on the win! How was the game?
Thank you very much. The game was tough, as we expected. We started off aggressively, with good energy and defense. Everyone was focused, and we were playing hard on both ends of the court. Then there was a slight slump. That, of course, can't be allowed to happen, because in the playoffs, any team can punish you. But the most important thing is that we didn't give up, continued to defend well, and were truly united. Even despite some mistakes, we supported each other, and that paid off. We won, but it was only one game.
Very often, you had to face much bigger opponents today. How did that feel, and what helped you cope?
I think it's just from the outside that they look a lot bigger. There's not really a huge difference. Maybe some, like [Terrell] Carter, are a bit more experienced, but overall there's not much of a difference. We play team basketball, and you can face both small and big opponents, so you have to be prepared for everyone.
Did it feel easier, when Carter was out with excessive fouls?
They actually have an interchangeable roster. With Carter gone, they've gained speed, played less in the paint and the low post, they've improved their transitions and shooting, so their game has changed.
You made your 500th field shot in the VTB United League today. What do you think about it?
I didn't know, actually. I don't follow statistics much, but it's probably a good thing I've already scored so many.
Howdy you like the new kit?
It's pretty cool, beautiful. We like it much, thanks to everyone who came up with it and made it.
What can you say about the support from the stands today?
It was great. Thanks to all the fans who came today. We understand that it's not easy to get here after work in the weekday evening. But people still come to support us, and we always try our best to give them back a great game and victories. So we look forward to seeing everyone at the next game.
