We spoke with the VTB United League's top young player right after it became known that he had been selected by the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA draft.
- How are you feeling right now?
- I feel like my childhood dream is starting to come true, but I understand that this is only the first step – there is still a lot of work ahead.
- Was it difficult to stay awake until 5am watching the draft?
- I've dreamed about this all my life, and at moments like these one can't sleep.
- Were you anxious when the draft was coming to an end and your name still hadn't been called?
- Of course, I was nervous. At one point, I thought I'd never get drafted, but I still had faith. It turned out it was worth it.
- Have you received many congratulations already?
- I guess. I'm talking to you, and the messages keep coming.
- Did you think you'd end up in the Dallas Mavericks?
- Well, yes.
- What's the plan now?
- We'll contact the Mavericks and clarify. Everything will become clear soon. In the meantime, I want to thank everyone. First and foremost, my family and loved ones, the Lokomotiv Kuban club, and especially President Andrei Vladimirovich Vedishchev. The team's coaching staff and everyone else I could name. I am incredibly grateful to every single person I've met along the way. Thank you everybody!
