Interview

DeVon Akun-Purcell: “I will do everything to help Loko win”

The American forward told the club's press service about his expectations related to continuing his playing career in Krasnodar.
Loko recruits – both Joshiah Gray and Chris Horton, barely joined the team, almost immediately made their debuts in official matches. Are you ready for such a scenario?
I train five times a week under the guidance of the best physical fitness coaches. Yes, it is important for me to be in the best shape upon arrival in Krasnodar. I understand that I will join the team already during the season, so I'm doing everything to be ready to get involved right away.
A very important stage of the championship is coming – places are distributed according to the results of the regular season. Do you follow the results of Loko?
I know perfectly well how the team is going during the championship, approaching the playoffs. But I'm not limited to that. I review reviews of Loko matches, so I have an idea of the team's style of play.
Moving is not only about the sports part, but also about everyday life, communication. Do you see difficulties in this, or does the already existing experience gained in European clubs take all this into the background?
It's important to know where you're going, so of course I made inquiries. All the guys I talked to spoke very well about the club, about Krasnodar. Of course, most of all I was interested to know the opinion of those who have already played here. I've talked to both Jonathan Motley and my good friend Stanton Kidd. My agent also told me in great detail about the team, about the city. I'm in Florida now, the weather is great here. And I was told that it's not as cold here as they say about the rest of Russia. That's great (laughs)!
What are the expectations associated with the upcoming move to Russia?
I'm looking forward to the moment when I can put on the Loko playing uniform. I will be glad to be a part of the team. For me, continuing my career at a club like Loko is a significant event in my career, a great honor. For my part, I will try to use my talent, all my knowledge and skills in order to help the team win and go to the intended goal.
