Jonas Maciulis’ double-double lets Loko beat PARMA

Lokomotiv Kuban hammered PARMA at home within the VTB United League regular championship – 94:64.

PARMA is a serious opponent for any team of the League. And they started to play tough from the very beginning. The guests shot a lot of threes. Both teams tried to score in transition and didn’t hold the ball in outs. It seemed there were no pauses at all. The teams got 50 points in the first quarter – 30:20 in favor of Loko.

However, despite Loko’s confident game at both ends of the court, PARMA didn’t give up and played aggressively. In the first quarter, Qvale lost his contact lens under the rim while Frank Elegar got eyebrow-cut in the second quarter.

The third period didn’t change the game situation but let us look more attentively at Jonas Maciulis role in Loko. The experienced forward was on fire – he defended perfectly, made blocks and dunks. He had 13 points, 12 rebounds and 25 PIR.

In the fourth quarter, PARMA did its best to avoid devastating defeat. But Loko maintained its rhythm and scored in difficult situations. As a result of it, Loko’s advantage grew to 30 points. Vova Ivlev’s dunk was a great end of the game – 94:64 – Krasnodar is still fighting for Top-3.

Sasa Obradovic, Head Coach of PBC Lokomotiv Kuban

- After the bitter loss in EuroCup, it was important for us not only to win but also to look good today. I think we did a good job and look good during the whole game. I’m happy with that. Now we have a new start and we are going to be more solid in the future.

Jonas Maciulis, Forward of PBC Lokomotiv Kuban

- We have a tough week after the final to prepare for the game. From the first minute, we came out to the court ready, with good energy not to joke with this team. Because we know that they never give up till the end. They find till the end and no matter how many points they are losing they always manage to come back to the game. So we didn’t want to do the same mistake and we just kept the same rhythm till the end of the game and we won.
