Interview

DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell: “Having a new guy around, everybody wants to be better”

The Loko forward shared his thoughts on what helped to defeat UNICS (90:82) and how the team should approach the next games.
– You've made 6 steals versus UNICS. Is it your career high?
– Honestly, I can’t remember. That was incredible, I was just like ball kept coming to me, so, I just kept taking it.
– It was the first time this season when Loko managed to be ahead of UNICS after 1st quarter and then by halftime. Is it getting okay with focus from the very first minutes?
– Yes, we’ve played good as a team. We signed Patrick Miller, and I think that everybody maybe wanted to show something, what one is capable of. Having a new guy around, everybody wants to be a better version of themselves. And also, Patrick’s energy was also important for us.
– What do you expect of the next game, against CSKA?
– We must follow the game plan. And take some energy from the game against UNICS and transfer it to the next game to continue to build a good habits. This time of year everything is important: every game, every possession, every play, the things you eat, what time you go to sleep. All of this stuff is crucial. So, I think just being consistent, going into every game, not just CSKA, is very important.
