Dragan Apic joins Loko

Lokomotiv Kuban signed up a Serbian forward Dragan Apic. The 23 year old can be used as a number four and number five, and should add variety to rotation in the paint.

Dragan (206cm, 105kg) has played only for Serbian teams. His first three years as a pro were in Vrsac, but seasons 2015/16 and 16/17  he played at FMP from Belgrade, which was playing in the Adriatic league at the time.

Then he played at Crvena Zvezda for some time but season 2018/19 he started at FMP. The first half of the season he showed some stats! Dragan had 21.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.6 steals in average after 14 games. Right now he is the MVP of the tournament with 29.5 PIR per game.

It’s worth mentioning that he is the best scorer in ABA Liga (Douglas Brown is the leader technically, but he’s played only three games), third best in rebounds, and seventh in steals. Lokomotiv Kuban and Apic signed a 4.5 year contract.

Dragan is 23 years old and he can do a lot for this age. His skills reached next level during this season, he is among the best in ABA Liga. In a recent game against Buducnost — a Euroleague club — Apic scored 26 points and had 6 rebounds. We expect him to strengthen up our “big men” rotation. The Serbian forward will add the energy we need due to McLean’s and Fall’s injuries.

We just signed a universal “big man”, who can play as #4 and #5. He is a young player, but has already proven himself in a fairly strong ABA Liga. Dragan Apic won MVP of the month twice in a row, he is one of the leaders in rebounds and scored points. We signed a 4.5 year contract with the Serbian forward and it is for the times to come. We hope Apic adapts quickly and starts proving himself right from the start, because we lost McLean for a longer period than we expected at first.
