Lokomotiv Kuban have reached a one-year agreement with Luca Banchi to become the club’s new head coach.

The Italian coach has a great coaching experience having worked with Armani Milano, Brose Bamberg and the most recent — AEK Athens with whom he managed to win FIBA Intercontinental Cup in 2019.

Banchi is a two-time Italian champion with Motepaschi Siena and Emporio Armani Milano in 2013 and 2014 respectively, which is only the second time for a coach to win Italian championship two times in a row with different clubs.

Luca Banchi, head coach of PBC Lokomotiv Kuban

I'm very honored to be the new head coach of Lokomotiv Kuban and I'm very excited to start this new challenging experience. First of all, I would like to thank Mr. Andrey Vedishchev and all the Loko management to choose me as coach of such an ambitious program. I want to respect the traditions of the club. And I believe we're going to achieve the highest goals and make all the Loko fans happy and proud of our efforts.

Luca Banchi is an experienced and interesting specialist with a victorious background in Italy. He has worked in fairly strong championships such as Germany and Greece, has managed two Euroleague clubs. He's a very diverse tactician who can easily get along with players. We expect his strong sides to help Loko achieve top results both in the VTB United League and Eurocup. Other than that, one of the tasks for the coach is to implement young prospects of the club into the main roster. We're glad to finally start working together now.
